“Lyalina Svitlytsia” Ethnographic Homestead

“Lyalina Svitlytsia” is a unique ethnographic space where Ukrainian traditions are not merely preserved, but live, breathe, and tell their stories to every visitor. Located in an authentic 1924 cottage, the estate combines the atmosphere of an old Ukrainian home with a modern, creative approach to promoting culture.
At the heart of this place is the doll-making studio—the first and only space of its kind in Ukraine. Here, over a thousand dolls from various regions are gathered, each with its own character, symbolism, and history. The exhibition features traditional motanka dolls, ritual and artist-made dolls, as well as thematic installations that recreate folk customs, holidays, and family rituals.
A unique atmosphere is created by the combination of art and gastronomy. The estate features the Museum of Boiled Borscht and the Museum of Living Bread—spaces where you can not only learn about traditional recipes but also experience them through taste and aroma. Here, Ukrainian cuisine is presented as part of the cultural heritage—vibrant, warm, and generous.
Guests can participate in workshops where they can make their own motanka doll, learn about its sacred significance, and experience the unique process of creating a talisman. It is an experience that combines creativity, tranquility, and a deep immersion in tradition.
“Lyalina Svitlytsia” is also a gathering place for the community and guests during vibrant ethnic festivals. The most famous of these are “Borshch in a Clay Pot” and “Korovai Fest,” where folk cuisine, music, crafts, and sincerity come together.
This is a place where childhood memories come alive, where every object has a soul, and every guest becomes part of a grand history. “Lyalina Svitlytsia” offers more than just an experience—it opens the heart of Ukrainian culture through the warmth of human touch, the flavor of traditions, and the power of talismans.
